The State Transport Authority (STA) declared on Wednesday that the “No Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), No Petrol” law in Odisha will now take effect on February 1, 2026, rather than January 1, 2026, which was previously anticipated.
The decision to postpone is based on the challenges that car owners encounter in acquiring emission certificates. Previously, the rule was planned to be applied in January 1.
During the extended period, car owners have been asked to fulfill necessary procedures such as renewing Registration certifications (RC), fitness certifications, PUCC, and vehicle insurance without incurring immediate fines. The car owners have been advised to take advantage of the extra period to update all necessary documentation.
The STA also underlined that no petrol station can refuse fuel to any vehicle that does not have a PUC certificate before February 1. At the same time, the department has chosen to conduct broad awareness efforts throughout the state to educate people on the need of pollution certification.
