IND vs PAK T20 World Cup: India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs to maintain their dominance in the T20 World Cup. With the win, India became the first team to advance to the Super 8 stage. Pakistan’s innings never got going, finishing at 114 all out in 18 overs while chasing 176 to victory. Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy each claimed two wickets.
According to the latest reports from the venue, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has left the Premadasa Stadium following Pakistan’s dismal performance against India. As we write this, Pakistan has lost their ninth wicket. Pakistan is down to its last three wickets. Axar Patel removed the dangerous-looking Usman Khan. Closing in on a half-century, the batter fell six short, getting out stumped to give Axar his second wicket of the innings. Mohammad Nawaz got himself an early boundary, but he holed out in the deep. India close in on extending their dominance over Pakistan to 8-1.
Shadab Khan is facing a tough battle to lift Pakistan out of its current rut. The boundaries have begun to appear, but the asking price remains about $10,000 per year. Pakistan only requires a cooperation to regain some sense of hope.
Things continue to get worse for Pakistan, who have lost four wickets in the Powerplay and theoretically have nothing on the board. They’re all over the place. Salman Ali Agha hit a boundary, but Pakistan’s captain fell on the next delivery, leaving Pakistan at 13/3.
Talk about a dream start. Hardik Pandya, who previously failed to deliver with the bat, has now done so, removing Sahibzada Farhan for a duck in the first over. In the following over, Saim Ayub top-edged Jasprit Bumrah for a six before the ‘greatest bowler in the world’ struck a beautiful yorker to wave him off.
Pakistan must chase down 176 after India scored a record-breaking 175/7 in India-Pakistan T20 World Cup matches. Ishan Kishan set the tone with a 77-run knock off only 40 balls, followed by significant contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh to ensure India posted a difficult score.
India was doing well, with Suryakumar and Tilak Varma developing a strong alliance. However, after Gautam Gambhir had a heated conversation with the two batters soon after the break, India lost two wickets in two balls, losing Tilak and the dangerous Hardik Pandya for a duck.
Despite losing wickets, India continues to score at a rate of 9 to 10 runs each over. Pakistan’s fielding errors did not assist their situation, with Shadab Khan giving Suryakumar an easy four and another defender failing to spot the ball. Usman Tariq, the much-discussed spinner, finished on 4/24.
Ishan Kishan’s magnificent innings finished on 77, but not before he unlocked the code for India and increased the run rate to nearly 10 per over. Ishan was in a marauding mode. The left-handed opener smashed a 27-ball fifty to ease Indian nerves following a wicket in the first over. This is his second consecutive half-century, following a 61-run romp over Namibia three nights ago. Ishan removed limits from Shaheen, Saim Ayub, and Abrar Ahmed. The Men in Blue lost Abhishek Sharma without scoring, but India scored at a respectable clip, despite Pakistan’s attempts to slow them down with different spinners.
