President Droupadi Murmu approved a proposal by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) to display the wheels of the three chariots used during Puri’s annual Rath Yatra in Rashtrapati Bhavan, celebrating Odisha’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy.
Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, SJTA Chief Administrator, met with President Murmu on Monday at Lok Bhavan in Bhubaneswar to present the proposal.
According to sources, the President consented to exhibit the wheels of the three ceremonial chariots on the presidential compound in New Delhi as a permanent monument to the centuries-old Jagannath custom.
The wheels are from Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosh, Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja, and Goddess Subhadra’s Darpadalan chariots.
They will be brought to Rashtrapati Bhavan, where they will be installed as emblems of Odisha’s long-standing cultural and spiritual heritage.
