The Odisha Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture unveiled the ‘Ama Kalakara’ webpage (https://amakalakara.odisha.gov.in) on Saturday, marking a significant step toward increasing openness and enhancing the state’s cultural ecology. Surama Padhy, Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, opened the portal.
The digital platform was created to promote and preserve Odisha’s rich art and cultural history by facilitating the participation of registered cultural troupes in government-sponsored programs. It strives to streamline the administrative process while increasing accountability and efficiency.
The ‘Ama Kalakara’ portal has a user-friendly layout and includes mobile geo-tagging, allowing for real-time monitoring of cultural acts. It will make it easier to issue work orders to cultural troupes in a transparent manner, as well as assure a methodical selection and engagement process.
To reduce duplication and malpractice, artists’ Aadhaar information would be linked to the portal, eliminating numerous registrations and engagements. This will assist ensure that only qualified artists and cultural groups are chosen for various programs.
The platform also mandates the submission of geotagged images and 360-degree videos of performances, which will allow officials to instantaneously verify happenings. The digital paperwork is supposed to speed up the verification procedure and allow for quick payment to artists.
According to the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, the ‘Ama Kalakara’ portal will improve cultural program management by increasing transparency, efficiency, and accountability, as well as providing a strong digital platform for preserving and promoting Odisha’s vibrant cultural traditions.
