Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, Aug 26, 2026: The benchmark indices fell as IT, FCMG, and auto stocks fell, while traders await Nividia Corp’s earnings, US inflation data, and assess the situation in West Asia.
The Sensex slid 183.15 points, or 0.24 percent, to 77,472.94, while the Nifty50 dropped 126.80 points, or 0.52 percent, to 24,207.75.
The top losers in the Nifty50 index were Bharti Airtel, the Power Grid Corporation of India, and Infosys.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap fell 0.1% while the Nifty SmallCap surged 0.81 percent.
The Nifty IT sector experienced the most decrease. The Nifty FMCG, Nifty Auto, and Nifty Realty all underperformed. Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal, Nifty Private Bank, and Nifty Cement rallied.
