Share Market Close: Sensex snaps 2-day losing streak, gains 331 pts; Nifty at 24,176; IT shines

Stock Market Highlights on Friday, Aug 28, 2026: The benchmark indices recovered from a two-day losing run, with IT, pharmaceutical, and metals stocks leading the way.

The Sensex jumped 330.92 points, or 0.43 percent, to 77,264.51, while the Nifty50 gained 84.80 points, or 0.35 percent, to 24,175.65.

The leading gainers in the Nifty50 index were Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra, and Infosys.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap were up 0.05 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.

Sectorally, the Nifty IT emerged as the best performance, while the Nifty Chemical lost the most.
