Stock Market Highlights on Monday, Sept 15, 2026: Amid a surge in oil prices, metal, real estate, and chemical companies weighed on the main indices throughout the final leg of the trade.
The Nifty50 dropped 279.50 points, or 1.19 percent, to 23,118.60, while the Sensex dropped 777.94 points, or 1.04 percent, to 74,003.82.
The top losers in the Nifty50 index were Adani Enterprises, Shriram Finance, and Bharat Electronics (BEL).
The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap experienced declines of 2.12% and 2.43%, respectively, in the wider markets.
The worst-hit sectoral index was the Nifty Realty, which fell 4%, followed by the Nifty Chemical. The only industry to end the session higher, with a 2% increase, was the Nifty IT.
