The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Friday that a low pressure system is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal around October 13.
IMD reports that there is a cyclonic circulation present over the Gulf of Thailand and surrounding areas, reaching elevations of up to 7.6 km above average sea level. The system is expected to reach the Andaman Sea by October 11. Due to its influence, a low pressure system is expected to develop in the southeast Bay of Bengal on or about October 13.
Simultaneously, the southwest monsoon withdrawal process has started in Odisha. The monsoon has begun to withdraw from certain areas of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh districts. Weather experts stated that the monsoon will diminish in additional regions of eastern India within the next 3 to 4 days.
The IMD noted that the southwest monsoon is expected to fully retreat from the whole country between October 15 and 21.
