On day seven of the 15th Asian Airgun Championship in Daegu, Korea, India’s pistol shooters swept all four available gold medals for the second day in a row.
With two days remaining in the competition, India now has a total of 22 gold, eight silver, and four bronze medals.
The first medal event of the day, the 10m Air Pistol Women, featured an all-India title clash, with Rhythm Sangwan defeating Palak 16-8 to win her second international gold of the year. Rhythm won the event earlier this year at the Cairo World Cup stage.
Following that, Manu Bhaker defeated Esha Singh 17-15 in another all-India gold medal match in the 10m Air Pistol Women Junior event.
It was a true see-saw battle between two champion shooters, with the lead changing hands almost every single-shot series. The two top shots were also tied in series and were eventually locked at 15-15 before Olympian Manu’s experience in a big tournament final saw her through.
Following that, in the 10m Air Pistol Team Men final, Shiva Narwal, Naveen, and Vijayveer Sidhu defeated Lee Daemyung, Mok Jin Mun, and Park Daehun of Korea 16-14.
The junior men were not to be left behind, as the troika of Sagar Dangi, Samrat Rana, and Varun Tomar defeated Uzbekistan’s Mukhammad Kamalov, Nuriddin Nuriddinov, and Ilkhombek Obidjonov 16-2 in the final event of the day, the 10m Air Pistol Team Men Junior.
