Acidity and bloating are two of the most common problems that most people face on a daily basis. Although bloating is a sensation of fullness in the stomach, acidity can cause heartburn or a dull aching sensation in the chest.
Dr. Dixa Bhavsar Savaliya, an Ayurvedic expert, took to Instagram to share three treatments that can help adults with acid reflux. “I see a lot of people suffering from acidity, especially adults (because pitta dominates adult life, just as Kapha and Vata dosha dominate childhood and old age, respectively,” she wrote in her post.
Dr. Savaliya went on to say that acidity is a sign that people have taken digestion for granted and have compromised on the quality of food they consume.
“These days, people have taken their digestion for granted and binge on whatever food items they come across, without considering their hunger, quantity and the quality of food. Also, stressful lifestyle and lack of exercise plays a role here. Hence, not only adults and pitta dominant individuals but even kids and teenagers suffer from acidity,” she wrote.
She advised that taking these 3 ayurvedic treatments for 12 weeks could help “reduce excess pitta (responsible for reflux and heartburn) in your mind and body and help you pacify your acidity issue.”
CORIANDER TEA
Begin your day with a cup of coriander tea. Take one glass of water (300 ml), add one tablespoon of coriander seeds, 5 mint leaves, and 15 curry leaves, and bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Strain and drink first thing in the morning.
FENNEL SEEDS
Fennel seeds have been shown to aid digestion. Dr. Savaliya suggested taking a teaspoon of fennel seeds after each meal.
ROSE TEA
After drinking coriander tea in the morning, the nutritionist recommended drinking rose water at the end of the day. “Bring 1 cup of water (150 ml) to a boil for 3 minutes, then add a few dry rose petals (1 tsp) and wait for 5 minutes before straining and sipping the rose tea at bedtime (30 mins before sleeping),” she wrote.
