The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a large monetary incentive of Rs. 131 crore for the Indian Team following their successful performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The Men in Blue, who became the first team to defend their T20 World Cup title at home, would receive Rs. 125 crore in 2024 after winning the coveted competition. The BCCI’s cash incentive climbed by six crore rupees in 2024, when Rohit Sharma led the team to its first victory since the inaugural event.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said in their statement.
India became the first team in tournament history to successfully defend the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. With this triumph, India became the first side to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times and the first to do so at home.
The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, won a hefty financial incentive from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after winning the tournament. After defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final, India was granted a winner’s purse of USD 2.34 million (roughly Rs 21.5 crore) by the International Cricket Council. The runners-up, New Zealand, won USD 1.17 million (about Rs 10.75 crore).
The hosts dominated the title clash from the start, scoring a World T20 final record total of 253 for five. Sanju Samson’s blazing 89-run innings set the tone for India’s dominant performance.
India’s bowlers then clinched the victory with an explosive session from Jasprit Bumrah, who took four wickets for 14 runs, his best statistics in the format. The sweeping victory gave India their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title and made them the first team to defend the title while also winning it at home.
Samson won the tournament as Player of the Series after scoring 321 runs in just five innings, while Bumrah was awarded Player of the Match for his crucial effort in the finale.
