The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) welcomed new applications to replace one vacant post on the Men’s Selection Committee, with the deadline for submission set for June 30.

Chetan Sharma resigned as chief selector in February, following a sting operation done by a TV news program in which he divulged internal information about the squad and selection process. Sharma’s second stint as head of selectors ended in less than two months after he took over in January of this year.

With Sharma’s resignation, the selection committee was reduced to four members, with Shiv Sunder Das serving as interim chief selector with Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee, and S Sharath.

The candidate will also address the media on squad selection as directed by the BCCI, choose captains for each format, and follow the BCCI’s rules and regulations.

Screening/shortlisting of applications will take place after the deadline of June 30 at 6 p.m. The shortlisted individuals would then be asked for personal interviews for further examination by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which includes Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, a former selector on the MSK Prasad-led panel.

The BCCI has also requested applications for one position of Head of Sports Science & Medicine/Academy Physio for each state cricket association in the country, with an age limit of applicants at 50 years.

They have stated that a suitable candidate must have five years of experience as a state senior physio in the Ranji Trophy or eight years of experience working in a high-performance sports team, with previous experience working in cricket teams and a postgraduate qualification specializing in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy/Sports & Exercise Medicine/Sports Rehabilitation/Sports Physiotherapy listed as desirable qualifications.

According to the BCCI, the role’s purpose is to make the candidate an integral part of a multidisciplinary team who is expected to deliver the highest standards of professional care in a confidential manner and possess the abilities to lead a physiotherapy and strength and conditioning (S&C) team entrusted with top level performance.

The candidate will also work with the Head Sports Science & Sports Medicine, Director of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, as well as medical experts, Indian team coaching staff, NCA, state associations, sports science & sports medicine team members of the state cricket association, and captains of respective teams.
