Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has announced the names of four candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Odisha.
According to reports, the nominees include senior leader Sasmit Patra, Manas Mangaraj, Sulata Deo, and Niranjan Bishi.
It should be noted that the terms of three Rajya Sabha MPs, N. Bhaskar Rao, Prasanna Acharya, and Sasmit Patra, expire on July 1. Similarly, a Rajya Sabha seat in Odisha became vacant after Subhash Chandra Singh resigned as Mayor of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) in March 2022.
The polls will be open from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m. on June 10, and the results will be announced at 5 p.m. on the same day. Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha by-election will be held on June 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by the counting of votes at 5 p.m.
