On Friday, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena issued an order to finish all wartime-related work on the Srimandir Parikrama project by Friday night, 12th January.

Jena gave the order during a high-level review meeting that was conducted in the Puri Conference Hall of the Special Circuit House to discuss the status of the Srimandir Parikrama project. According to an official news release, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena presided over the review meeting.

At the review meeting, officials talked about construction work, cleanliness, vehicle traffic, drinking water supply, continuous power supply, extensive program publicity, and the comfort of the devotees and servitors.

Chairing the meeting, Jena said that ‘Ankuraropan’ for Srimandir Parikrama project will begin on the 12th of this month and on 17th with ‘purna ahuti’ at the ‘yagna’ the project will be dedicated. As a result footfall of devotees in the shrine will increase unexpectedly. Therefore, Jena directed to make all arrangements for vehicular movement and civic amenities.

He further directed to complete all necessary repairs and ground leveling work for the project  with the assistance of Truck Association.

Parking arrangements for devotees coming from outside has been made at Samang. Route charts will be displayed in different parts of the city along with publicity of geo-location on social media. Vehicles after dropping devotees at Jagannath Ballabh will be parked at Samang. As many as 120 temporary toilets will be constructed at Samanga. On the other hand, public vehicles will be parked at Maltipatpur stand.

Arrangements for provision of drinking water, sprinkling of water and rest will also be made at different places from Samang to the temple.

At the shrine, a makeshift foot and hand wash station will be installed.

By this month’s eighth, the Odisha State Bridge Corporation will turn over all of its parking areas to the police. Every day, twenty mutts close to the temple will receive 2KV DG sets. Near the temple, a designated parking area will be set aside for the sevayats, or servants. At Sri Setu, a welcome arch (toran) will be built.

Different regions of the city will have traffic control rooms opened by the police.

Every evening, cultural events will take place with the building of a special exhibition and mandap in front of the Parikrama project, which is located close to Jagannath Ballav.

The state’s panchayats will provide rice for Mahaprabhu’s labor, and the temple administration will make arrangements for its storage. On the Grand Road (Bada Danda), kirtan mandalis, or kirtan groups, will travel in seven elaborately decorated chariots. Satellite broadcasting will be used for the Parikrama project launch event.

Media representatives will have access to the media lounge. The provision of emergency medical services, a sufficient lighting system, and CCTV cameras was also settled upon in the conference.

Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Principal Secretary Sushil Kumar Lohani, Finance Department Principal Secretary Vishal Dev, Works Department Principal Secretary Vir Vikram Yadav, Rural Development  and Information and Public Relations Department Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Mission Shakti and Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department Secretary Sujata Karthikeyan, Director of Tourism Department Sachin R Jadhav, Transport Commissioner and ADG Police Amitabh Thakur, Director of Information and Public Relations Saroj Kumar Samal, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Ranjan Kumar Das, Puri Collector  Samarth Verma, Superintendent of Police Kanwar Vishal Singh and senior officials of various departments participated in the discussion.

Before the meeting, the Chief Secretary Jena along with other officers visited Samanga and Jagannath Ballav parking lots, Sri Danda, Sri Setu and Parikrama Patha.
