CM Majhi Chairs High-Level Meeting On Law & Order Situation In State

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday evening held a high level meeting on the law and order situation in the state at the Lok Seva Bhavan.

The state’s law and order situation as well as the resolution of several issues within the police department were the topics of the meeting.

There was a thorough discussion of the three main issues the Odisha Police are facing: lowering the number of traffic accidents, combatting cybercrime, and stopping the growing of ganja.

There are currently 2,198 traffic police officers in the state, according to the meeting’s discussion. This year, the Chief Minister ordered the creation of 2,000 new positions for the traffic system, which is crucial to road safety, and the full transparency of the hiring process.

Similarly, the state recorded 2,633 cybercrime cases in 2024. The state currently has 14 police stations working to combat cybercrime. Because to cyber fraud, the average person is suffering greatly.

In light of this, the Chief Minister ordered the opening of 20 additional cyber police stations, bringing the total number of cyber police stations in the state to 20. The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of bolstering the police stations that are currently operational.

In a similar vein, the chief minister stated that the state should take aggressive measures to stop the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis.

In order to improve the crime control system in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, he instructed the Police Commissioner to strengthen the night patrol and checking system in the cities. He also emphasized the importance of putting this system in place in all of the state’s urban areas.

The Director General of Police was advised by the Chief Minister to give the security system in Maoist-prone areas extra consideration.

He expressed gratitude for the state police’s successful participation in significant occasions and initiatives, including as the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in Bhubaneswar, Navy Day in Puri, and the DG and IG conference.

According to the Chief Minister, the police department would be significantly bolstered in the days ahead by filling a number of open positions.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Director General of Police YB Khurania, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal and senior officers of the state police.
