On Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi performed an airborne reconnaissance of flood-affected regions in Ganjam, Koraput, and Nabarangpur districts, as well as a review of relief and rescue activities following severe rains caused by a depression.
Majhi, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, and Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil flew over Ganjam and Koraput.
Following the airborne assessment, Majhi and the authorities landed in Jayapur, Koraput district, for a review meeting to assess the situation and the relief efforts underway in the affected districts.
The chief minister directed the district administrations and concerned departments to intensify rescue and relief operations and ensure that essential assistance reaches affected people on a priority basis.
“Relief distribution, rescue operations and the provision of drinking water and healthcare services are being carried out on a war footing in the affected areas,” Majhi said in a post on X.
Majhi then went to Chandili High School in Koraput district, where people devastated by the depression-induced rains had sought refuge. He chatted with them, asking about their well-being and the hardships they were experiencing.
The chief minister also met with local public representatives and administrative authorities and instructed them to speed up relief and support efforts in the affected areas.
