In reaction to the ongoing global oil crisis caused by the dangerous situation in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged individuals across the country to cut wasteful spending, particularly on petrol and diesel.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the Prime Minister’s call on Wednesday and announced tangible efforts to set an example. The number of vehicles in the Chief Minister’s official carcade has been decreased by half, effective immediately.
CM Majhi emphasized the importance of community responsibility, urging Odisha residents to use public transportation as much as possible and reduce their use of personal vehicles. Vehicles should only be utilized if absolutely necessary. He emphasized the need of avoiding unnecessary travel.
The Chief Minister also asked citizens to desist from extravagant expenditures. Avoid needless gold purchases and postpone non-essential international travels, he said.
Rising crude oil costs have put strain on the Indian economy and household budgets, prompting these steps.
