Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi urged the administration on Wednesday to implement comprehensive steps for the development, security, and promotion of the Shri Jagannath culture associated with Puri Gobardhan Peeth.
Majhi issued the directive while chairing a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with delegates from the Peeth to examine concerns concerning its spiritual significance, properties, security, and overall growth.
The Chief Minister highlighted the daily ‘Sandhya Mahodadhi Aarti’ held on the beach at Swargadwar in Puri. He suggested beautifying the Aarti venue and organizing the nighttime ceremony on a larger scale. He also urged the administration to transform the entire Puri beach into a stunning spiritual beach.
Majhi advocated for a full re-examination of old land settlement records to find a permanent solution to Gobardhan Peeth’s long-pending land and property concerns. He also asked officials to beef up security measures around Jagadguru Shankaracharya and the Peeth premises.
The gathering also explored strategies to maintain and conserve the sacred samadhi sites of Gobardhan Peeth’s former Acharyas. The necessary facilities for the effective management of Shri Gobardhan Goshala within the Math premises, as well as the overall development of its surroundings, have also been undertaken.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, sadhus and saints from Gobardhan Peeth, and other government officials all took part in the discussions.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D K Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Law Secretary Pabitra Mohan Samal, Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida, and Puri SP Prateek Singh were all present.
The meeting was attended by Gobardhan Peeth’s Vyavastha Pramukh Praffulla Chaitanya Maharaj, Aditya Bahini Chief and Peeth representative Matru Prasad Mishra, as well as other senior Peeth officials.
