On International Yoga Day 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi sent heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha, describing yoga as a significant tradition of Indian culture and human welfare.
In his message, the CM said, “Today is not just a celebration for us, but a day to remember the great tradition of our ancient Indian practice, culture and human welfare.” He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts and inspiration for yoga’s global popularity, calling it “India’s invaluable asset” that has connected the world to a healthy lifestyle.
Highlighting this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging,” Majhi said it is very relevant to today’s busy lifestyle. “Yoga is not just an exercise, but a path to a healthy and balanced life. Regular practice makes the body beautiful, the mind calm and life positive,” he said.
The Chief Minister further stated that yoga is especially useful for healthy aging because it improves physical flexibility, balance, and immunity while decreasing mental stress. He urged people to join in huge numbers in state-wide mass yoga practice programs to help establish a healthier society. “Let us all accept yoga as an integral part of life, bring the benefits of healthy aging and a healthy life to every home, and contribute to building a healthy, prosperous and empowered Odisha,” added Majhi.
