On day 9 (Saturday), India won more than a dozen medals, and added 15 more, including a rare one-two in the men’s triple jump, on the penultimate day (Sunday) in Birmingham. The women’s hockey team won the bronze medal play-off as well.
Today’s medal winners are the women’s hockey team (bronze), Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran (table tennis, silver), Kidambi Srikanth (badminton, bronze), Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula (women’s boxing, gold), Amit Panghal (men’s boxing, gold), Eldhose Paul (men’s triple jump, gold), Abdulla Aboobacker (men’s triple jump, silver), Sandeep Kumar (men’s 10,000 m walk), Annu Rani (women’s javelin throw), Nikhat Zareen (women’s boxing, gold), Saurav Ghosal and Dipika Pallikal (squash, mixed doubles), Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran (table tennis, silver), Kidambi Srikanth (badminton, bronze), Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula (table tennis, gold), Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand (badminton, bronze) and Sagar Ahlawat (boxing, silver). Sharath Kamal also entered the men’s singles final. Badminton stars PV Sindhu, Laskhya Sen, and the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered their respective finals. But India women lost to Australia in the cricket final.
