The makers of South superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated film ‘Coolie’ have officially released the teaser on social media channels. The 3-minute and 22-second trailer for the action drama picture was published today, August 2, 2025, at approximately 7 p.m.
The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, would be released on August 14, 2025, a day before India’s Independence Day, competing with Ayan Mukerji’s action movie ‘War 2’.

Meet the stellar cast of Coolie
Besides superstar Rajinikanth, the film features Nagarjuna Akkineni, Pooja Hegde, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Kishore Kumar G, Reba Monica John, Baahubali actor Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Monisha Blessy, Kaali Venkat, Mahendran, Ayyaappa P Sharma and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in a cameo appearance.
What Coolie is about: Storyline
The story revolves around Deva, a former gold smuggler who wants to reclaim his reputation by resurrecting his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage gold watches. Kalanithi Maran produced the film under the Sun Pictures brand. Anirudh Ravichander, who previously collaborated with Rajinikanth in the film ‘Jailer’ in 2023, created the film’s music. It is worth noting that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has accorded Rajinikanth’s film ‘Coolie’ an A certificate.
