According to Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday, India recorded 3,038 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 21,179. With nine deaths, the death toll rose to 5,30,901. Two deaths were reported from Delhi and Punjab, one each from Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand in a 24-hour period, and two reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.
Meanwhile, the Satara district administration in Maharashtra has made mask wearing mandatory for employees and officials working in government and semi-government offices, colleges, and banks. Satara Collector Ruchesh Jaivanshi issued the order on Monday, effective immediately, according to news agency PTI.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and ex-CM Vasundhara Raje tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Both the leaders took to Twitter to announce the news and said that they were in complete isolation following doctor’s advise.
