The Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) 2026 will commence on May 5, the Higher Education Department stated on Wednesday. The examination will run until May 18, 2026, and will cover a variety of postgraduate courses around the state.
For the 2026-27 academic year, 58,708 candidates applied for 31,915 PG seats at various universities and colleges, indicating a high demand for postgraduate education.
From February 27 to March 22, 2026, applications were submitted using the SAMS portal. According to the department, the candidate data will be sent to the State Selection Board (SSB) on March 26.
Admit cards for CPET 2026 will be available from April 30, and candidates can download them from the SSB website. The department asked students to double-check all of their information before the exam.
Candidates for postgraduate courses will be selected exclusively on the basis of their CPET exam scores. Successful candidates would next go through counselling and seat allocation based on merit.
The Higher Education Department has also established a goal of starting PG classes at all of the state’s universities and colleges by July 10, 2026, to ensure minimal disruption to the academic calendar.
