The searing heat continues to deepen across Odisha, with the Meteorological Department predicting a 3 to 4 degree Celsius increase in temperature over the next week. There is little relief in sight, as the state is projected to sustain severe heatwave conditions over the next five days.
Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Balangir districts have all received a yellow alert for nocturnal hot conditions. Meanwhile, temperatures in at least ten regions have risen beyond 40°C, causing significant heat and discomfort for inhabitants.
In addition, 11 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Gajapati, have been issued a yellow warning for hot and humid weather.
The weather service has also issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning and rain in six districts: Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.
Heatwave warnings have been extended for tomorrow in five districts: Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, and Nuapada, indicating that the state will continue to experience harsh weather conditions.
