The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings for numerous regions of Odisha for the next five days, predicting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds.
On July 21, severe rainfall is expected in one or two locations over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (up to 30-40 kmph) are expected in one or two locations across Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
On July 22, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
The warning for July 23 indicates heavy rainfall at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) will likely affect Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
On July 24, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
For July 25, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds are likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur.
The IMD has warned citizens, particularly those in coastal and northern districts, to stay alert and take appropriate precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rains.
Farmers, fisherman, and travelers have been advised to regularly monitor official weather reports because conditions might change quickly.
