The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for numerous districts in Odisha for the next seven days, anticipating severe to very heavy rains and thunderstorms with gusty winds.
For August 27, the regional meteorological office predicts heavy rainfall in one or two locations in the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, and Mayurbhanj. Furthermore, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (up to 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagad. These districts have been given a yellow alert.
According to the August 28 forecast, significant rainfall is anticipated to occur in one or two locations in the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj. Furthermore, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (up to 30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur in one or two locations across the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada. These districts are under a yellow warning.
On August 29, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in one or two locations in the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
A yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 kmph has also been issued for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
For August 30, an orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Angul, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.
Additionally, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall is in place for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Dhenkanal.
The weather office has also predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind of 40-50 kmph over Angul, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, and 30-40 kmph over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
On August 31, an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj.
That apart, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall will be in effect for Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Nayagada.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind reaching 40-50 kmph are likely over Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj, and 30-40 kmph over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Sundargarh, Angul, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi and Nabarangapur September 1.
A Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall is likely over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
On September 2, a yellow alert for heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagada.
