Following a half-century in the fourth match of the just finished series against West Indies at Lauderhill last week, India batter Shubman Gill reached a career high 25th position in the current ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, issued on Wednesday.
Gill, 23, has risen 43 places after scoring 77 and nine in the final two T20Is of the five-match series, which the West Indies won 3-2.
His previous best in the format was 30th, which he achieved in February after recording India’s highest T20I score, an undefeated 126 against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
Gill’s starting partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, with whom he added 165 runs in the fourth match, has also advanced quickly in the latest weekly update, climbing to 88th position for his player of the match; effort of 84 not out off 51 deliveries.
Meanwhile, West Indies opener Bandon King’s 85 off 55 balls has taken him up five places to a career-high 13th position, while Kyle Mayers (up two places to 45th) and Shimron Hetmyer (up 16 places to 85th) have also gone up.
West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has risen three places to 11th, and Jason Holder has risen two places to 25th, after taking two wickets apiece in the final match, while Romario Shepherd’s match-winning four-wicket haul has boosted him 20 places to 63rd.
Kuldeep Yadav, India’s left-arm wristspinner, has risen 23 places to 28th after taking two wickets in the fourth match.
