India’s massive victory in the first Test against Australia in Nagpur on Wednesday propelled them to the top of the latest ICC Test rankings, making them the top-ranked team in all three formats.
After defeating New Zealand 3-0 in January, India recently became the top-ranked ODI team, joining their No. 1 T20I ranking.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will need to win the second Test against Australia in Delhi on February 16 to maintain their lead in the Test rankings and move one step closer to qualifying for the World Test Championship final in June. To make the final, they must win the series 3-1 or 3-0.
India had won by an innings and 132 runs over Australia in Nagpur, with R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma making key contributions.
