Rishabh Pant, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman, has surpassed Virat Kohli in the ICC Test batting rankings, while Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand has into the top 20.
Pant scored 20 and 99 in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, propelling him three places to sixth place in the latest update to the Test batter rankings, passing Kohli, who is now joint ninth.
Joe Root of England maintains a comfortable lead at the top of the rankings, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (third) joining Pant and Kohli as the only Indian players in the top ten.
Ravindra has risen 36 places to 18th in New Zealand rankings, thanks to performances of 134 and 39 not out as the visitors secured their first Test victory in India since 1988. Devon Conway has moved up 12 ranks to 36th place.
Matt Henry, who took eight wickets, moved up two spots to ninth place with a new career-high rating of 751. His fast-bowling buddy William O’Rourke has moved up two spots to 39th place as a result of his seven scalps in the same match.
Ahead of the England-Pakistan series decider at Rawalpindi, opener Ben Duckett finds himself on the cusp of breaking into the top ten, having moved up three places to joint 11th on the Test batting rankings with a knock of 114.
Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha moves up eight places to 14th with a new career-high rating after scoring 31 and 63 in the second game, which the visitors won to end their Test victory drought at home.
Salman has passed 50 in three of his previous four Test innings, and he is currently Pakistan’s highest-rated Test batsman, surpassing colleagues Babar Azam (equal 19th), Mohammad Rizwan (21st), and Saud Shakeel (27th).
Pakistan spinner Noman Ali is back in Test bowlers’ rankings at 17th place after taking 11 wickets in two innings against England in Multan, while colleague Sajid Khan advances 22 places to climb to 50th place after being voted Player of the Match in the same game.
