The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that dense fog would blanket numerous Odisha districts in the early mornings until December 27, coinciding with Christmas celebrations.
In light of this, yellow warnings have been issued, encouraging residents and travelers to exercise extreme caution owing to probable losses in visibility, which may impair everyday commutes, vehicle transport, and aviation operations.
On December 24, fog is likely to be most visible in isolated patches of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Balangir, and Sonepur.
From December 25 to December 27, severe fog is expected to hit Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Sonepur. So, these regions should be extra watchful in the early mornings.
Meanwhile, the IMD advised drivers to use fog lights, reduce speed, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak fog hours.
“Dense fog is very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Balangir & Sonepur”, read IMD’s prediction for December 24.
