The India Meteorological Department predicts heavy rain in numerous regions of Odisha on July 24 and 25. According to the IMD report, an upper air cyclonic circulation between 5.8 and 7.6 km above mean sea level over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha coast, which was observed at 5:30 p.m. IST on Thursday, has become less evident as of 8:30 a.m.
The weather agency has issued a Yellow Warning (Be Aware) for July 24. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations over the districts of Baleshwar, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph is also very likely at one or two places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
The IMD has expected heavy rainfall on July 25 in a few spots throughout all districts of Odisha. A Yellow Warning — Be Aware has been issued, with heavy rains expected in one or two locations across Baleshwar, Sundargarh, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds of 30-40 kmph are extremely possible in one or two locations across Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Anugul, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, and Mayurbhanj.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 33.2°C in Paralakhemundi, while the lowest minimum temperature was 18.3°C in Boudh in the Odisha plains.
Officials have warned residents in the impacted districts to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rain.
