IND vs WI 3rd ODI: Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya all hit half-centuries as India amassed a mammoth 351-5 in 50 overs against the West Indies at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Kishan was at his best in the aggressor role, hitting everything that came in his arc to smash eight fours and three sixes in his 77-ball performance. Gill began cautiously, then played some wonderful strokes, hitting 11 fours and anchoring his 85 off 92 balls.
Samson ignited the Indian innings with two fours and four sixes while scoring 51 off 41 balls. West Indies struggled after losing wickets, but Hardik’s unbeaten 70 off 52 balls led India to their highest ODI total.
Samson made his presence known by lofting Cariah for two sixes on opposite sides of the ‘v’ after he caught Gaikwad’s edge on drive at second slip. Samson flicked Seales for six after surviving a lbw appeal. Gill and Samson continued to hit boundaries, with the latter scoring his third ODI fifty in 39 balls.
However, Samson mistimed a loft to mid-off against Shepherd. Gill couldn’t keep the draw down, and Motie caught him at mid-wicket after seven overs. Hardik got into the groove with a pulled four off Seales and a six-pointer against Cariah. Suryakumar, on the other hand, was swift in glancing, flicking, and lofting low full deliveries for boundaries.
However, his time was cut short after 35 balls when backward point collected his attempted open-faced loft off Shepherd. Hardik would slam big sixes off pacers to reach 50 in 45 balls. In the penultimate over, he struck two sixes and a four to push India above 350.
