India vs Australia 3rd Test Day 3 Highlights: On Day 3, rain caused more stoppages than overs bowled. However, Australia has surged ahead in the game, with India trailing at 51/4. The top order disintegrated once more, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli all being dismissed while playing sloppy strokes. Only KL Rahul seems capable of surviving in the middle. He also did not retreat into his own shell when he dispatched loose balls for boundaries. Rohit Sharma is out there with KL Rahul, and the two will look to take the game on as play resumes on Day 4. India is still trailing by 394 runs.
Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood dangled the ball full early on, and India’s batsmen fell hook, line, and sinker. Yashasvi Jaiswal nicked the first ball while driving to the boundary, but he missed the second ball by sending it straight to the forward square-leg. Then Shubman Gill fell on the first ball of Starc’s next over, as he attempted a massive booming drive. Mitchell Marsh sent him back with a scream of a catch at Gully.
Virat Kohli then almost caught a golden duck by going for a massive booming drive as well. Kohli finally returned to the hut, nicking Josh Hazlewood’s outside off-stump delivery.
Earlier, Australia contributed some important runs, with Alex Carey scoring 70 runs. Day 3 began with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Mitchell Starc. Akash Deep finally got a wicket to end the hosts’ innings after a few rain breaks. Australia was therefore all out for a massive 445.
After a lethargic first day, which was almost entirely rained out, the Gabba Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy came to life on the second. Australia finished day two on 405/7, putting themselves in a good position at one of their favourite home fields and causing plenty of concern in the Indian camp with their effort and outstanding performance in Brisbane.
