India maintained their dominance in the Chennai Test against Bangladesh, closing the day with a commanding lead of 308 runs. On Friday, India finished with 81 for 3, led by Shubman Gill’s undefeated 33.
Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah’s excellent performance (4 for 50) contributed significantly to Bangladesh’s 149-run defeat. Bumrah claimed four wickets, with Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Akash Deep each taking two.
Hasan Mahmud (5/83) become the first Bangladesh bowler to bag a five-wicket haul in India. The 24-year-old reached the milestone on Day 2 morning in Chennai after he dismissed Jasprit Bumrah. This, as India were dismissed for 374 with Ravichandran Ashwin top scoring for the hosts, scoring his sixth hundred in Test cricket.
Ravindra Jadeja (86) added 199 runs for the seventh wicket alongside Ashwin. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his fine run in Indian whites as he scored a fine half-century to restore parity following an early streak of wickets for Bangladesh on Day 1.
Shakib Al Hasan was Bangladesh’s leading scorer with 32 runs. India capitalized on their good performance, gaining a 227-run lead in the first innings and extended it to 308.
