India vs Bangladesh, 1st Test Day 4: R Ashwin shines as India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs, take 1-0 lead in two-match series

Ashwin, who went wicketless in the first innings, finished the second with 88 for 6. Ravindra Jadeja (3/58) provided him with valuable assistance. Jadeja’s Test wicket tally has now reached 299.

India has produced an incredible recovery after being humbled to 144 for 6 by Bangladesh on Day 1. Ashwin and Jadeja, the spin duo, established a 199-run stand for the seventh wicket to pull India out of trouble.

India, inspired by Jasprit Bumrah, dismissed Bangladesh for 149 runs in one and a half sessions. India did not enforce the follow-on, and Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant scored 167 runs for the fourth wicket to put India ahead on Day 3.
