With this result, the Indian team move to the top of Group 2’s table. Bangladesh invited India to bat first in the match. India got off to a shaky start, losing skipper Rohit Sharma for the second time. However, KL Rahul’s fifty and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 44-ball 64 propelled India to 184/6 in 20 overs. Bangladesh responded strongly, with Litton Das leading the run chase. He went on to hit a 21-ball 50 before rain stopped play, reducing the target to 151 in 16 overs.
Bangladesh continued to lose wickets quickly after the action resumed, beginning with Das being run-out for 60. Soon after, Mohammed Shami gave India its second breakthrough. Arshdeep Singh then struck twice in the same over, and Hardik Pandya took two wickets in the over after that.
