Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller hit 75 and 64 runs, respectively, to help South Africa chase 212 against India in the first T20I of the five-match series on Thursday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Both batters put on 131 runs for the fourth wicket, and the pair kept dispatching deliveries for constant boundaries, leaving Indian bowlers in the dust. In the end, the Proteas won by seven wickets with five balls to spare.
In the first T20I, India set a massive 212-run target for South Africa. Ishan Kishan’s superb display of power-hitting set the hosts on course for a big total. He finished with 76 off 48 balls.
Hardik Pandya, India’s vice-captain, scored 31* off 12 balls, while Shreyas Iyer scored 36 off 27 balls. Rishabh Pant, India’s captain, scored 29 points off 16 balls. Keshav Maharaj, Wayne Parnell, Anrich Nortje, and Wayne Parnell each took one wicket for South Africa.
