With his searing knock against South Africa in the third T20I here at New Wanderers Stadium on Thursday, India stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav equaled Rohit Sharma’s record of hitting the most T20I hundreds in history.
The 33-year-old scored his century in 56 balls, packed with eight sixes and seven fours, propelling India to a massive total of 201/7 against the Proteas. He was ably assisted by the young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit 60 off 41 deliveries.
The right-hander slammed 56 off 36 deliveries in the second T20I at Gqeberha, expanding his lead as the No.1 ranked batsman in the game’s shortest format.
Last month, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell equaled Rohit Sharma’s T20I century tally, reaching an incredible 47-ball century in Australia’s exciting last-ball triumph over India at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
