According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the India women’s cricket team will come in Dhaka on July 6 to play three T20Is and as many ODIs against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
According to the BCB’s schedule, the three T20Is between India and Bangladesh will be played on July 9, 11, and 13 at 2 p.m. Dhaka time. It should be mentioned that Bangladesh will host the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
It will be followed by three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) between the two teams on July 16, 19, and 22, starting at 9:30 a.m. Dhaka time. The three One-Day Internationals are part of the 2022-25 ICC Women’s ODI Championship cycle, contested between ten teams to determine qualification for the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, to be hosted by India.
India leads the standings with 12 points after winning six of six matches, while Bangladesh is in ninth place with three points after losing two series to New Zealand and Sri Lanka, four of which were washed out due to rain.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team last played on the international stage in February, when they were defeated by Australia by five runs in the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. The India visit is the first series hosted by Bangladesh under the ICC’s Women’s FTP 2022-2025.
The Indian women’s squad recently completed a High-Performance training and conditioning camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, under the direction of men’s head coach Rahul Dravid and NCA head VVS Laxman giving them pep talks during the camp.
Meanwhile, India A’s match versus Pakistan A in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup in Hong Kong on Saturday was called off owing to rain at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. Due to the tie, both teams advanced to the tournament’s semifinals.
India A finished first in Group A, while Pakistan A finished second due to the former’s superior net run rate. In the first semifinal, India A, captained by Shweta Sehrawat, will face Sri Lanka A.
In the second semi-final, Pakistan A, headed by pacer Fatima Sana, will meet Bangladesh A. Surprisingly, rain has forced the cancellation of seven of the tournament’s twelve league matches.
