Shashank Singh then launched a fightback from Punjab, and a mix of Ashutosh Sharma’s brilliance and some weird MI tactics saw Punjab Kings claw their way back into the chase despite being seven wickets behind.
Ashutosh, on the other hand, fell for 61 off 28 balls, leaving PBKS with 12 runs to win from the last over with one wicket in hand. A run out off the second ball of the final over concluded the game, and MI won by nine overs.
Suryakumar Yadav earlier hit 78 off 53 balls to help the Mumbai Indians post 192/7 in 20 overs while batting first. SKY and Rohit Sharma shared an 81-run stand for the second wicket, which came in just 57 deliveries. Then came a 49-run partnership with Tilak Varma off 28 deliveries. Rohit lost 36 out of 25, while Tilak remained unbeaten with 34 out of 18. In Shikhar Dhawan’s absence, Sam Curran captained the Punjab Kings.
