The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 has entered the knockout stage after the thrilling group-league matches. The top teams from each of the four pools have already advanced to the championship’s quarter-final round, and the second and third-placed teams will now play crossover matches to secure their spots.
On January 26, the bottom-placed teams from the pools and the losers of the crossover games will compete in the 9-16 classification games.
Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, and England are among the pool winners who have already advanced to the quarter-final stage. They’ll face the winners of the crossover games on January 22 and 23. The four quarter-final matches are set for January 24 and 25.
Hosts India finished second in Pool D and must defeat New Zealand in the decisive game on Sunday at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to make the final eight. Malaysia, Spain, Argentina, South Korea, Germany, and France will also need to play crossover matches.
The semi-finals will be played on January 27. The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 final will be held on January 29 in Bhubaneshwar.
