Nina Venkatesh set a new National Record in the women’s 50m butterfly event heats on the first day of the four-day event on Sunday at hyderabad, while four new meet records (NMR) were also created.
Nina Venkatesh broke the national record in the Women’s 50m Butterfly heats with a timing of 28.01 seconds. She broke Divya Satija’s previous record of 28.33 established in Bhopal in 2019.
Nina Venkatesh then went on to break her own record in the final of the women’s 50m butterfly, clocking in at 27.34 seconds.
While Nina Venkatesh established a new record in the women’s 50m butterfly, Aryan Nehra created a new record in the men’s 400m freestyle, Lineysha set a new record in the women’s 200m breaststroke, and Olympian Maana Patel set a new record in the women’s 100m backstroke.
Gujarat swimmer Nehra won the men’s 400m freestyle in 3:52.55, breaking Kushagra Rawat’s record of 3:53.68 established in Bangalore in 2021. On Sunday, Rawat of Delhi finished second in 3:55.45, while Aneesh S Gowda of Karnataka finished third in 3:57.86.
Lineysha set the other record in the women’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:37.35, bettering her own time of 2:39.38 set in Guwahati last year. S Lakshya of Karnataka came in second in 2:41.13, while Venika Parith of Gujarat came in third in 2:43.41.
Maana Patel of Gujarat, who will represent India in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo, won the Women’s 100m backstroke in 1:03.48, breaking her own record of 1:04.33 established in Trivendrum in 2018.
Among the other notable winners were veteran Veerdhawal Khade in the men’s 50m butterfly in 24.33 seconds and Tamil Nadu’s Benediction Rohit B in 24.62 seconds. Mihir Ambre of Maharashtra finished third in 24.78 seconds.
