On Saturday, the Odisha Board of Secondary Education announced the results of the annual High School Certificate (Matric) Examination 2026, with an overall pass percentage of 95.33 percent.
The results were publicly announced in the Board’s office by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, who was joined by Board President Srikanta Tarai and other top officials.
This year, 5,36,306 students took the exam, and 5,19,251 of them passed. The Board said that 8,364 pupils were absent during the exam.
According to the grade-wise distribution, 2,456 pupils received A1 grades, 15,681 received A2, 43,565 received B1, 86,103 received B2, 1,29,813 received C grades, and 1,46,152 received D grades and 95,481 students passed with E grade.
In terms of district performance, Gajapati recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.31 per cent, while Keonjhar district registered the lowest at 95.33 per cent. Notably, 3,310 high schools achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, while three schools recorded zero results.
The Matric examination was conducted across 3,082 centres in the state from February 19 to March 2, 2026, with the evaluation process commencing on March 19.
The Board also declared results for the State Open School Certificate and Madhyama examinations alongside the HSC results.
Students can obtain their results online starting at 6 p.m. using the Board’s official portals- orissaresults.nic.in and bseodisha.ac.in. To boost accessibility, particularly in places with limited internet access, an SMS-based service has been implemented. Candidates can check their results by submitting OR10 to 5676750.
For the first time, the Board has introduced bilingual certificates, which will be issued in both Odia and English to successful candidates.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, institutional heads will be able to obtain the Tabulation Register from the official websites.
For context, the overall pass rate in 2025 was higher at 96.7%, with females outpacing boys.
