On Tuesday, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) announced the names of its observers for the upcoming by-election to the 07-Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency scheduled on May 10. According to a notification issued by Pranab Prakash Das, BJD Organising Secretary, senior party leaders Prasanna Acharya, Devi Prasad Mishra, and Sarada Prashad Nayak have been appointed observers for the May 10 by-election.
Naba Kishore Das, former Health Minister, died on January 29 this year, leaving the Jharsuguda Assembly seat vacant. Dipali Das, Das’ daughter, has been nominated by the BJD as its candidate for the seat.
Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik announced Deepali as the party’s candidate hours before the meeting of district and senior observers of the party at Naveen Nivas.
