Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched 150 new ambulances at Kalinga Stadium, ushering in a new era for the state’s healthcare services.

According to an announcement from the CMO of Odisha, the ambulances are part of a broader endeavor, with 428 new 108-ambulances provided for the state’s population, replacing 419 old ones and two destroyed in accidents.

The new ambulances consist of five Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles for airport/airstrip use and two ALS ambulances for Jharsuguda Cardiac Care Hospital. Currently, 108-ambulance services transfer over 5,000 patients every day to various hospitals in Odisha.

Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated that the state government is gradually replacing obsolete ambulances with new ones to improve emergency ambulance services. To further accelerate healthcare services, 108-EMAS ambulances are being procured. The state government has spent ₹111 crore on 428 ambulances.

CM Majhi today launched 150 new emergency ambulances, part of a larger fleet of vehicles aimed at enhancing the state’s healthcare infrastructure. The remaining ambulances will soon be deployed, replacing old Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (EMAS) vehicles.

The event was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Health Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Ms Aswathy S, National Health Mission Director Dr Brundha D, and various officials and staff from the Health Department.
