In a major step to enhance agricultural education and research, the Odisha government has provided a monthly stipend for postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. students at Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).
According to an official statement issued by the Department of Agriculture, the decision was made to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in agriculture and related disciplines, with the initiative facilitated by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.
Regular PG students enrolled in agriculture and allied studies at OUAT will earn a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month for a two-year period. Ph.D. scholars would receive Rs 15,000 each month for up to three years.
The financial aid is intended to foster outstanding research, boost innovation in the agricultural sector, and urge deserving students to pursue higher studies without financial restraints.
“Investing in our young researchers means securing the future of Odisha’s farmers. With this assistance, our students can focus on new innovations and research without financial worries,” Singh Deo said.
The scholarship will be available to all normal postgraduate and doctoral students studying agriculture and related areas at OUAT.
The state government stated that the project is designed to increase university research capability while promoting wider engagement in advanced agricultural research, ultimately contributing to the development of Odisha’s agriculture industry.
