The Odisha Government’s Higher Education Department updated the admission calendar for undergraduate (+3) courses for the 2026-27 academic session using the Student Academic Management System (SAMS), with first-year sessions beginning on July 27.
According to the amended timeframe, eligible applicants can reopen and modify their college and subject preferences via the SAMS portal beginning at 2 p.m. on July 8. The preference-editing facility will be available until 11:45 p.m. on July 12.
Students who have already applied through the Phase-I admissions procedure can update their options during this time by choosing their chosen colleges and major disciplines. The facility has been introduced to provide applicants with an opportunity to review and revise their preferences before the next stage of seat allotment.
The Higher Education Department has also added a programme category selection option for candidates following OTP verification. Candidates must select from Regular Mode Programmes, Self-Financing Mode Programmes, or both categories when determining their preferences.
Students in the Regular Mode category will not be required to pay entrance fees as part of the Government’s Fee Waiver Scheme. Candidates who choose Self-Financing Mode Programmes, on the other hand, must pay their own entrance fees.
The Department has also stated that students who were assigned seats in Regular Mode courses during the first round of allotment and had already paid admission fees will receive refunds in bank accounts linked to their Common Application Form (CAF). The refund process will be carried out after completion of the Phase-I admission process, subject to the fulfilment of the prescribed attendance criteria.
According to the amended admission timetable, the provisional allotment results for the second round will be announced on July 20. Candidates selected in this round will be able to pay their fees online and report to their assigned universities between July 21 and July 23.
The third and final round of seat allotment will be published on July 29, with admissions open until August 1.
The Department has scheduled a Waiting/Spot Admission Round for students who have not received allotments yet. The list of eligible waitlisted applicants will be announced on August 4, followed by physical reporting, document verification, merit list publishing, and admission completion between August 5 and August 11.
Meanwhile, first-year undergraduate sessions at participating higher education institutions will start on July 27, keeping the academic calendar on track.
The Department has also said that the Phase-II admission procedure would begin following the release of the CHSE Instant/Supplementary Examination results.
For further information on the admissions process, students can visit the official SAMS portal or call the e-Admission Helpline at 155335 or 1800-345-6770.
