Amid the Omicron scare, the Odisha government announced a continuation of physical mode classes in primary schools across the state that have been shut for the last years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Offline classes for the students of classes 1 to 5 could resume in Odisha from January 3, school and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash told India these days.
Dash stated as according to the directions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the government has determined to resume the physical mode of teaching in about 27,000 schools in the state.
But, in schools where the summative exam for class 10 students has been scheduled, the physical classes will resume from January 10, 2022. In those schools, the Matric Summative assessment-I is scheduled to be held between January 5 and 8.
Guidelines for Odisha schools reopening-
As per the decision, the classes will be held from 9 am to 12 noon without break, and the distribution of dry ration among students under the noon meal scheme will continue as before.
The primary schools will must comply with the same SOP issued for classes 6 to 12, the minister stated.
But, the online classes can even continue. students can attend offline classes in consultation with their parents or guardians.
The decision of commencing primary classes through the Odisha government also coincides with the union government’s decision of rolling out vaccines for children from January 3.
