According to Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Odisha will celebrate National Handloom Day on August 7, 2025, with a lavish event in Bhubaneswar. Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit Nene will be a special guest at the event, which Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate.
From August 7 to 13, Janata Maidan will host a massive handloom and handicraft exhibition that will promote the state’s rich artisanal heritage and weaving traditions. It is anticipated that more than 1,500 Odisha weavers and craftspeople from over eight states will take part.
The State Handloom Award 2023–24 felicitation ceremony, seven knowledge-sharing seminars, and live weaving demonstrations will all be part of the EKTA (Exhibition-cum-Knowledge Sharing for Textile Advantage) program, which will take place on August 8 and 9.
Odissi and Sambalpuri folk dances, modern acts, fashion shows, and a laser show are just a few of the cultural events that will illuminate the evenings from August 7 to August 9, providing an insight into the rich cultural tapestry of Odisha.
With 60 stalls, a food court, and a play area, the exhibition grounds will be entertaining for people of all ages.
The week-long event seeks to honor Odisha’s artists, promote the state’s handloom heritage, and encourage information exchange among the textile industry.
