The result of Round-1 seat allotment will be declared on August 9. Following this, selected candidates must report to their respective allotted institutions by August 18 to complete the admission formalities.

The NEET UG 2025 round one choice filing and choice locking facility have previously been postponed by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). The Committee has stated that the updated schedule will be made public soon, but it has not provided an explanation for the hold. “The Round 1 Choice Filling and Choice Locking has been paused. According to the official website, the updated timetable will be revealed soon.
Before the latest revised NEET UG counselling schedule for 2025, candidates were required to submit and lock their choices by August 4. The round 1 seat allotment results were initially set to be released on August 6. However, the schedule was extended to accommodate Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), who had requested additional time to obtain their certificates from designated centres.

For the NEET UG 2025 counseling procedure, the Committee (MCC) has authorized the conversion of 188 Indian candidates to NRI status. These applicants had until August 3, 2025, to send their scanned documents to MCC by email at ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com. After a careful examination of the applications’ supporting documentation, the list of NRI candidates was created, guaranteeing that they met the MCC’s eligibility requirements.

Furthermore, according to data from the National Medical Commission (NMC), a sizable portion of undergraduate medical seats in India are still unfilled, even though the number of MBBS seats has increased by 39% in recent years. The data was presented in the Lok Sabha on August 1 by Anupriya Patel, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The number of open UG seats (except from AIIMS and JIPMER) peaked at 4,146 in 2022–2023 before gradually declining to 2,849 in 2024–2025. In contrast, the number of MBBS seats increased from 83,275 in 2020–2021 to 1,15,900 by 2024–2025.
